Bones Skateboard Wheels Buyers Guide 2022
Bones skateboard wheels are at the forefront of advancing urethane technology, developing formulas that are tried and tested to be the most durable when performing on the terrain they were made for. Tests prove that Bones outperform other wheels, making them the most flatspot resistant wheels in our cabinet. This is why they have such a loyal customer base. They also offer a wide variety of shapes in every formula, meaning there is something for everyones specific needs and style of skating. This guide will explain the different compounds their formulas offer and give you a visual guide to the various shapes they have developed.
Bones Wheel Compounds
99A Durometer
This slightly softer hardness is a new Street Tech development for burlier street skating situations. They offer more control, a smoother ride and slightly softer landings on rougher terrain.
103A Durometer
These are the hardest STF’s available. Many of the wheels you will have skated are 100A and these are beyond the A scale so even harder. They are a street skaters dream ready for days of abuse at your favourite ledge spot. They will roll faster, have a higher rebound and increased slide-ability.
84B Durometer
SPF’s use a B rating to differentiate hardnesses. Bones use the B scale to accurately rate the durometer of their wheels which are made harder than the A scale goes. As a rule the B scale reads 20 points lower than the A scale meaning wheels rated 84B would be the equivalent 104A. This means they are beyond super hard which equals increased speed, higher rebound and the best slide when you need it. You’ll be screeching those noseblunt slides without the fear of flat spots in no time.
81B Durometer
These are the equivalent of the popular 101A hardness championed by Spitfire. This durometer offers better grip, more control and a smoother ride. You just need to watch some clips of Bones team riders like David Gravette or Chris Russel to know these wheel formulas work where they’re designed to.
Bones Street Tech Formula Wheel Shapes
Bones Street Tech Formula or STF’s are some of our best selling wheels. These are specifically designed for street skating and perform like no other. They are a hard wheel which will grip when it’s needed to and slide when you make it while being virtually impossible to flat spot. They offer the control needed in the most demanding street skating situations. The durability of Street Tech Formula wheels is second to none. They last way longer than regular wheels justifying their slightly higher price tag and loyal fans.
