Long Live Southbank Book

We are pleased to be one of the first people to stock the excellent Long Live Southbank book. It is available to buy from both of our stores and online. The LLSB campaign began gathering content for this publication when the spots future was still uncertain. Now that the hallowed ground of the Undercroft has been saved for future generations the timely release of this book is celebratory. It has a lot to offer...

It is filled with a wealth of amazing images shot over the decades from the likes of Tim Leighton-Boyce, Wig Worland, Dominic Marley, Leo Sharp and Sam Ashley to name a few. Well chosen full colour photography is displayed optimally throughout the 408 tall pages of this hardcover book. Skateboarding is well represented from each era of the spots history and evolution and a story weaves it's way throughout...

The book has a well crafted narrative. It begins by outlining Southbank's importance, the history of the site and the architecture which gave birth to the spot our culture adopted. It charts skateboarding and the Undercroft co-existing throughout the 70's, the 80's and from 2000 up to our present day and honours the community which frequent it. It has a great interview with Wig Worland and one with Ben Jobe and many contributors have penned articles about what the space means to them. This book is a must have for anyone who has spent time down there next to the river and enjoyed what this space has to offer, anyone who has signed the petition and joined or followed the campaign and anyone who loves skateboarding and the freedom to do so. Securing Southbank's future is a milestone in British skateboarding history and this book is something to look back on for many years to come. We will leave you with an image shot by Sam Ashley...
