Slam team rider Blondey McCoy is not one for sitting around doing nothing. He has just announced his fifth solo art show and it promises to be the best one yet. Playfully titled ‘Us and Chem’ this show is comprised of more work involving mirrors. This time around instead of using existing photos from magazines Blondey has employed a more involved process. He has spent time curating and shooting specific subject matter on his travels which has been printed directly on to each mirror. Bipolar disorder and depression have informed and fuelled this new show as a theme and a motivator. In Blondey’s own words…

“The show was created out of a compulsion to create, not one to show off, throw a party or make money. It’s making has been a revelation in accepting the need to treat bipolar as a blessing rather than a curse, and to perpetually guarantee myself that from long hum drum periods of heightened sensitivity, my most genuine and life affirming artwork is born”.

Blondey has also worked on his first ever collaboration. This particular piece couldn’t be higher profile, he has teamed up with Damien Hirst which is incredible and is definitely going to make some noise. You are invited to go to the show on opening night this Thursday 27th July from 6-9pm. Us and Chem will be showing at the Heni Gallery, 6-10 Lexington Street, W1F 0LB.
